Using Your Diary

Lets Plan It!

JUMPSTART YOUR OWN PROJECTgld illo 31_275

Don't wait for the adults, make a change yourself.

PLANNING IS EASY!

  • Decide on a problem to fix
  • Make a list of things you could do to help
  • Talk about the best idea with others
  • Start working on it
  • Record what you do (take photos / video)
  • Email Green Cross Australia and tell others how it went.

PROJECT IDEAS

Talk to your teacher and with your friends - you could work on some of these ideas together.

• Start a worm farm. Compost and use all of the food scraps from lunchesgld illo 27_250
• Make a music video that teaches people how to recycle
• Do some fundraising for bike racks, solar powered bubblers, foster an animal
• Research local endangered species and make leaflets for your community explaining how to protect them
• Get your tuckshop green - does it sell healthy food made locally?

Community service organisations can help you!
Groups like Rotary, Lions, Apex and Zonta have members who have all got incredible skills from their working lives. Each organisation has clubs across Queensland.

They can offer your school excellent advice and might even help you to get your projects started.

Ask your teacher to help you to get in contact with them. Green Cross Australia can help you!

Start your own Green Group
All you need to start are your ideas, a group of friends (maybe your diary buddies) and a shady tree to meet under.

Brainstorm all the things your group could do to help (use ideas from your diary), write them down and arrange a meeting with your school principal to get started. Ask a teacher to help your group.

You too can get involved...
